SEO Copywriting Makeover Good Rankings but No Sales Part 2 of 2

by Karon Thackston 2004-2005 http://www.copywritingcourse.com

In Part 1 of this article series, we looked at a local home security site that had fairly good rankings but whose conversion rate was lacking. (You can see the original copy here: http://www.copywritingcourse.com/topsecurity-original.pdf.) Here in the conclusion, you’ll see how several changes helped maintain this company’s good rankings while improving their site’s lead generation abilities.

The Rewrite

My first thought with the rewrite was to stop making “trust and urgency” the undertones and instead make them the obvious focal points of the copy. As usual, I started with the headline. The previous headline was:

When every second counts, turn to Top Security, Inc. who has been securing Orlando / Central Florida homes and businesses for 689,453,910 seconds.

I wanted something more direct so I changed the headline to:

Top Security, Inc. of Orlando Security Systems From a Trusted Neighbor

This included one of their keyphrases and also made it perfectly clear this company was local and trustworthy.

For the introductory paragraph, I wanted to get the visitor’s attention and hold it long enough to make a point: That security is something you need to think about now, not later. I opened with the following:

“If only I’d called you sooner.” “I never thought this could happen to me.” These are just a few of the many comments we have heard from our customers in Orlando. Security systems suddenly became a top priority for them, but not until after they’d experienced a frightening break-in or a devastating fire. After these disasters, our Orlando neighbors were convinced that burglar alarm and security issues should be a forethought, not an afterthought.

The copy does not beat the visitors over the head with the fact that they could be hurt, face losses, or experience some other frightening situation. It simply plants a seed of “what if” and moves on.

This section of the copy also lends support to the keyphrases Top Security wanted to rank highly for. Because “Orlando Security Systems” can be an awkward phrase to repeat, I split it up in several instances to help the flow of the copy stay natural.

The remainder of the page speaks to the facts that Top Security is local, has longevity in the community, is right around the corner, and offers several other benefits national security companies simply can’t (or won’t). Benefit after benefit is listed and explained in order to drive home the fact that a local company can – and will – provide exceptional service. You can see the current version here: http://www.copywritingcourse.com/topsecurity-current.pdf.

All throughout these sections of the copy, keyphrases are reinforced in the copy. When applicable, keyphrases are used in bold phrases or others that include special formatting. However, I never forced keyphrases someplace they didn’t fit just for the sake of doing it. Keyphrase placement has to meld with the copy, not overpower it.

The call-to-action for the home page was simple. It asked three questions dealing with the biggest complaints about home security that users or potential users have regarding dependability, false alarms, and price.

The Results

The high rankings Top Security had prior to the SEO copywriting makeover were retained for most terms and even increased for a few others. While that’s great, what’s more important is that lead generations from the site increased, which gave Top Security, Inc. a broader customer base and the potential to make more sales they previously would not have been able to make.

It just goes to show that, even if your site has high positioning, copywriting can play an incredibly important role in bringing growth to your business. After all, what’s the point of having good rankings if you have no sales?

Paul Chehade – Save A Lot Of Money With This Green Energy Advice

There is such an overwhelming amount of information regarding green energy online so locating reliable information is quite challenging. The following article is going to give you simple advice to bring green energy into your home.

Making small adjustments to the way you use energy every day can ultimately reduce your consumption. Unplug appliances when you’re not using them. Try turning off the TV and lights when they’re not in use. This is an easy way to save cash as well.

The government has made grants for investing in renewable energy available to the public. Talk to your local government and figure out what programs are in the area. Who knows, you may qualify for low or no-cost wind or solar installation. Even if you don’t qualify for a grant, you can still use these items as a tax deduction.

During the summer, you should try drying your clothes out in the sun instead of using a dryer. The sun will make your clothing smell great. They’ll smell so much better than if you shoved them into a dryer! As well, you save quite a bit on monthly utility costs.

Try to turn off things you are not using. When you leave an area take the time to turn off lights, televisions, stereos, computers, and other electrical items you are not going to be using. A power strip offers a handy way to shut down multiple devices at once, and it prevents passive electrical use due to standby modes.

If you clean your dishes using a dishwasher, don’t run it until it’s completely full. Your dishwasher consumes the same energy and water, even if it is half full. When running the dishwasher, turn on the setting for energy conservation.

When planning a home solar system, calculate the potential energy generation of the system using hours of sunshine in the winter. This prevents unpleasant surprises in the winter, and it saves money during the summer. Also, if you make use of the net usage plan from your electric company, you will get returns from your utility company for generating energy during summer.

Take the time to properly maintain your refrigerator. Since refrigerators tend to eat up a great amount of power, it is crucial you keep it in perfect working order. Be sure that you’re regularly cleaning the dust that builds up near the heating coils. Don’t forget to be certain to keep the seal surrounding the door tight and clean.

Learn about the differences between passive and active solar power. Passive solar power doesn’t require the costly power-storage cells that active power does. Active solar power requires a lot of involvement in the form of installation, mechanics, and power cells. Passive energy is using the sun’s thermal energy to heat your house.

Pay attention to any federal or local rebates offered for making alternative-energy updates to your home. In some cases, the local utility company will offer rebates for the cost of the upgrades. You may also get state and federal tax deductions for making your home more energy efficient. These credits and rebates will ultimately cut your costs of bringing green energy technology to your house.

Make use of a solar oven for baking needs. You can make one using supplies you may already have on-hand like old window panes, boxes, and pieces of aluminum foil. The internal temperature of these easy-to-build ovens can top 300 degrees, and they do not require any energy besides the sun’s rays.

Get started with some great tips in this article today! All these tips make using green energy technologies simple and affordable for the average home or business owner. Your family and your environment will thank you for it!

Shoes Say A Lot About The Person Wearing Them.

The dictionarys definition of shoes is described as an item of footwear. They then go on to explain how they are worn to protect your feet from the ground you walk upon and to aid in keeping your feet warm. Now if you were to ask a woman what shoes are they would probably answer very differently. Shoes for a woman arent for practical use, they arent meant to be comfortable and to keep your feet warm. Shoes are meant to be a fashion statement, to make your feet look like a thousand pounds, they are meant to perfectly compliment your equally as gorgeous dress, they are meant to make your legs look long and slender. Shoes for a woman are so much more than just footwear they are what dreams are made of out of, they are magical and precious, they are shoes which you will bring you more love and attention than your partner could ever give, they are shoes.

Brands of Shoes

The brand of shoe you are wearing can tell you a lot about a person, and when I say a person I mean a woman. If you are a man reading this or you are simply not interested in fashion at all you may laugh at this statement and think what a load of rubbish, but its true. Think about it, a woman wearing a pair of Nikes, what does this say about her? Typically you would think she is sporty, healthy, and maybe enjoys the outdoors. You instantly get a feel for the type of person she is. Similarly a girl wearing a pair of Gucci, well for one youd think she has taste, but mostly you would assume she is financially well off, girly, and has a high interest in fashion. Now lets look at a woman wearing a pair of Uggs. Not a lot of people know this but Ugg boots were actually first designed by and for male surfers. The point of Uggs was that they are easy to wear and are light, perfect for when you are going surfing and out and about on the beach. Ugg boots didnt really catch on for male surfers but they definitely did around the rest of the world in the female population. Seeing a girl in Ugg boots gives the impression that she knows about fashion but comfort is more important, she may have a day ahead of her where shell need to run about a bit going to and fro.

Next time you are out have a look at the shoes the women around you are wearing and see if you can tell what it says about them, its fun!

The Crazy Motto That Doubled My Sales

Do you run a sales team? Have you ever noticed that sales people are brilliant at coming up with excuses for why their promised sales didn’t eventuate. I use a simple strategy on my sales team that stopped the excuses and doubled the sales.

A couple of years ago I read a very interesting piece of research. The business school of a major university was conducting an international study into sales management. One of the amazing things they discovered was that sales people who reported to a sales manager, on average produced less than sales people who did not have a sales manager.

The reason for this was that the sales managers tended to be critical of the shortcomings of their team members and this made the sales people nervous. They became so preoccupied with having to face the music at the sales meeting that their focus was on failure rather than success. If your focus is on failure then failure is what you will get.

This is all very interesting but there is still the practical matter that most sales people are performing well below their potential. So how does a sales manager get his or her team performing without creating the problem of failure focus?

When I first started managing a sales team I discovered that sales people had an incredible talent for coming up with excuses. They seemed to be able to justify any lost sales by giving you a plausible reason why it was not possible to get the sale. While I admired their creativity I also realized that in most cases the sale was getable. The problem I had was how to get the sales person away from the excuse habit and onto the success habit.

I also remembered when I first entered the sales world, and how my sales manager had harassed myself and the other sales people at each sales meeting. I used to dread going to those meetings.

I ended up creating a solution that got rid of excuse behavior, avoided the harassing situation and led to a doubling of my sales team’s output. I made a rule that the only excuse that a salesperson was allowed to offer was an excuse that was so good that if they wrote it on a piece of paper and took it to the manager of the local supermarket that the manager would be happy to give them a week’s groceries in exchange for the excuse.

Here’s how I used the “grocery excuse” strategy. I first explained the rule to each of my sales people. Then if during a sales meeting a sales person started to offer any form of excuse I would interrupt and say “excuse me Bob, can I buy a week’s groceries with this excuse that you’re starting on?” They would say no, and then I would say “then let’s focus on a real way that we can get this sale across the line.”

This crazy “grocery rule” worked like a charm. Within a few meetings it totally eliminated excuse behavior and turned the whole focus of the meetings into positive, success oriented thinking. The result was that the teams sales figures improved dramatically and my sales team didn’t fear the meeting.

If you are having problems with excuse focused sales staff then why not give my crazy motto a try.

How To Become Financially Wealthy In The Insurance Industry!

When I started out selling in insurance, I never dreamed I would get to the level of income that I enjoy today. As in most professional sales careers, when you perfect your sales and prospecting techniques, your ability to earn a great living will follow. But, even then, you are still far from the peak of the mountain top in income potential.

In order to obtain income levels far beyond what most agents ever dream of, you must understand the power of leverage. “Leverage” is the way most MGA’s, IMO’s, FMO’s and NMO’s in the industry earn millions per year instead of thousands per year like most agents. With personal sales alone, there are only so many hours per week that are available to make sales. Not to mention the many other things that competes for your time like family, friends, church, leisure, etc. You create “Leverage” by maximizing your income opportunities through the efforts of others as well as your own. Only then can you free yourself from the limits you can earn from personal sales, because of your limited time available.

The traditional growth path for most agents who eventually become MGA’s, IMO’s, etc, has been to learn and perfect their sales and prospecting techniques over time, then take the next step to position themselves to earn additional income from teaching other newer agents what they have already learned. However, getting to the point of qualifying for an MGA or other marketing type contracts for multiple carriers can take years to accomplish. In addition, the start up overhead expenses and required resources can be very costly.

What if you had available to you right now a complete system that provides all the products, resources, training, compensation structure and opportunity to due exactly what I am talking about right now. Start creating Leverage today, even before you’ve perfected your own sales and prospecting, even though you do not have any MGA, IMO, FMO or NMO sales contracts.

The United Independent Wholesale Insurance Network has created a success system that provides an opportunity for savvy agents to not only survive, but thrive, in our very lucrative but demanding business.
